Our New Untreated English Larch/Douglas Fir Sleepers are perfect for all of those sensitive applications such as children's play areas, ponds and raised beds.
English Larch and Douglas Fir are possibly the most hardy and most durable of domestic softwoods. These sleepers are untreated because the high resin content acts as nature's own highly effective preservative. Larch and Douglas Fir have a striking appearance with colour variations from cream to pink to bronze, they can have all 3 in the same piece of timber. As with all timber if left untreated it will become a silver grey over time with the bleaching effect of the sun.
This is an ideal timber to apply paint applications to, along with wood stains that will enhance the natural grain of the wood.
Each sleeper is unique. Being a natural product, there may be colour variations, splits, knots and wanes.
