Top 10 Adventure Playgrounds
Posted in Railway Sleeper News by on August 18th 2017

A great adventure park on a sunny day can make the summer holidays complete for the kids - and for big kids like dad! There are many fantastic adventure playgrounds across the UK, with plenty of innovative equipment that can supply endless hours of fun. Read on for the top 10 UK adventure playgrounds:

1. Dinopark, Carrutherstown, Dumfries

Dinopark is a Jurassic Park-style leisure park with an unusual adventure playground, where you can meet life-size dinosaurs, go on a bouncy dinosaur, dig for fossils, ride the mini go-karts, trek through the Dino Mine, try out the kids' assault course and generally have fun.

2. Toffee Park, London

Toffee Park encourages children to take part in physical and creative play, with its tree house, multi-sports area, nature garden, kids' allotment area and clay oven for making pots and pizzas. In 2011, it won the London Adventure Playground of the Year Award.

3. Bowood House, Wiltshire

This amazing adventure playground has its very own pirate ship, where kids can become Captain Jack Sparrow for the day. There's also a big selection of steep slides and flumes, which parents often like to try out for themselves!

4. Creepy Crawlies, York

There's so many things to do at Creepy Crawlies, including one of the biggest Astra slides in the UK, a mini animal farm, a playground with high-ropes and wacky swings, quad biking, dressing up, a pottery barn, a riding school and a nursery. There’s even a hair and beauty studio and fitness suite, so mum can have a pamper session too!

5. Oasis, Stockwell, London

The Oasis Children's Venture in the heart of London was a basic playground that was converted. With all the most exciting things crammed into one space, these include a zip wire, a climbing wall, tyre swings, BMX track and go karting, to name but a few. There's also a nature garden if you fancy a bit of relaxation.

6. Go Ape, Trent Park

Go Ape is a national chain of adventure playgrounds but the newest London location is amazing. Set in the middle of woodlands, surprisingly it is only 10 minutes from the tube station! Kids can play for hours on exciting rope bridges, giant swings and zip wires.

7. The Vyne, Hampshire

This Hobbit-themed adventure playground is based on Lord of the Rings' Middle Earth, with a Tolkein-style map of the grounds, plenty of exciting tunnels to explore, a stream and a mountain. Great fun for big kids and little kids.

8. Harewood House, Yorkshire

One of Yorkshire's best adventure playgrounds, Harewood House stretches over three acres and has a huge range of activities such as zip wires, climbing nets, aerial walkways and the 18th century Treasure House. There’s family picnic areas too!

9. Chatsworth, Derbyshire

Set in the beautiful Peak District, Chatsworth's adventure playground has a trailer ride and a climbing forest. There's also a farmyard where children can meet and pet small animals and watch milking demonstrations.

10. Cave Hill, Belfast

Belfast Castle Estate is home to an exciting adventure playground, where there are rides for teenagers as well as children. The rides for three to 14-year-olds include spring rockers, slides, cradle swings and bicycle roundabouts, while older youths can try out the aerial runway and space net.
